DON’T DISABLE THE DISABLED

Every day in Utah, thousands of physically disabled

people prepare for their daily activities. Either alone or

with the help of family or caregivers, this is a

demanding undertaking.

Simple activities like going to the grocery store or a

doctor’s appointment require energy and planning

that’s difficult to comprehend. Imagine the frustration

and anguish added to an already challenging outing as a

disabled person arrives at a destination and finds that

specifically marked, designated handicapped parking

spaces have been taken by someone unimpaired.

Whether in a wheelchair or using other mobility aids,

suddenly a simple errand becomes immeasurably more

challenging, and in some cases has to be abandoned.

The Disabled Rights Action Committee’s

(disabledrightsaction.org) public education initiative

was created and supported by ParaQuad Mobility

(paraquad.com). “Don’t Disable The Disabled” is a

compelling public education campaign intended to

establish awareness of the real hardship the seemingly

harmless act of using a handicapped parking space

causes the disabled.
